Tales From The Borderlands: Zer0 Sum Review I Hey Poor Player

Added: 29.11.2014 9:12 | 5 views | 0 comments

Hey Poor Player's Francis DiPersio writes- When Tales from the Borderlands was first announced it was easy to feel a bit skeptical as to whether or not Telltale Games could deliver as far as spinning a yarn as grand as The Walking Dead or The Wolf Among Us. Dont get me wrong; while the Borderlands titles have always featured some enjoyable writing, the narrative itself is usually buried under mountains of bullet-riddled bodies and shimmering loot. In the dangerous, bandit-filled wastelands of Pandora, the story has always taken backseat to wholesale destruction, the pursuit of bigger, badder guns and even bigger, badder psychopaths to blast into mountains of twitching meat.

Telltale has made itself quite the reputation for a certain type of game thanks to The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. With the release of Tales from the Borderlands the company has improved upon its own reputation in a big way. With the announcement of this particular title, there have been some who wondered what could be done when talking about taking a different approach to an already rich video game world. It turns out that Pandora and its inhabitants were never filled out quite as well or quite as completely as they were with Tales from the Borderlands.

Tales from the Borderlands Episode 1: Zer0 Sum Review - Softpedia

SP: "Telltale Games was mostly known for making old-school point-and-click adventure games in franchises like Sam Max a few years ago, but with the debut of The Walking Dead, the developer has shown that it can not only adapt the old genre's mechanics to tell a novel interactive story, but it can also work really well within established universes, such as the one made by the actual "Walking Dead" comics. Afterwards, the studio rolled out The Walking Dead Season 2, as well as The Wolf Among Us, an adventure experience based on the popular "Fables" comic book series."

TouchArcade: 'Joe Dever's Lone Wolf' Review - A Unique Experience, But Not Without Problems

Added: 27.11.2014 8:11 | 2 views | 0 comments

TouchArcade: Even if you've never heard of the Lone Wolf series of gamebooks written by Joe Dever (with their sporadic publishing history I wouldn't blame you), Joe Dever's Lone Wolf [$0.99], a new adventure made specifically for mobile platforms, has got a lot of initial punch. While everything seems to start like any other gamebook you've played on iOS, as soon as you reach the first battle of the game, it's clear that this game has got some strong ideas about where to take gamebooks in the future. The 'Wow' factor of turning the page to an illustration that comes to life in full 3D can't be underestimated, but in its quest to escape the shackles of its old format, Lone Wolf trips over some very familiar problems inherent to its new one. In the style of our reviews of The Walking Dead [Free] and The Wolf Among Us [Free], this review will be appended to as each new act releases.

Tales From The Borderlands: Episode 1 review Zer0 Sum - Metro

Added: 26.11.2014 7:11 | 5 views | 0 comments

Metro: "The makers of The Walking Dead return to their comedy roots, with a companion series to Gearboxs Borderlands. Its two years now since Telltale Games won so many game of the year awards for The Walking Dead. They didnt get one from us but it was certainly a milestone release for the company, and a great example of (semi-)interactive storytelling. But theyve struggled to follow up on that success, with a disappointing second season and the enjoyable but flawed The Wolf Among Us. Tales From The Borderlands is the best thing theyve done in years though, at least judging by this first episode."

Tales from the Borderlands: Episode 1 (review) - Cheatcc

Added: 25.11.2014 16:12 | 3 views | 0 comments

Cheatcc: "Tales From the Borderlands is the latest game from Telltale, the studio that brought you The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. Youd think this means that they were bringing us a serious game about moral choice where people will die based on tough decisions that you make. NOPE! This is the Borderlands universe! People die left and right and nobody cares. Heads explode, bodies are electrocuted, robots are torn limb from limb, and there is just so much murder you could use the corpses to build your very own meat bicycle. The big ten million bullet question here is does Telltales point and click cinematic choice based formula hold up when lives arent on the line, and the answer is EXPLOSIONS!!! "
